What We Believe

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that God created the universe and created mankind in his own image and likeness. When Adam and Eve sinned, the human race fell under God’s judgment and thus, has need reconciliation with God. We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Bible, inerrant in the original autographs, and the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in his Virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood, in his bodily resurrection, in his ascension to the right hand of the father, and in his personal return in power and glory. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. Salvation is by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a Godly life. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they who are saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and they who are lost unto the resurrection of eternal damnation. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

BIOGRAPHY

Pastor C.J. Graham a native North Carolina migrated to New York in 1959. Married his beautiful bride Peggy on June 17, 1961, he is the father of six children and the grandfather of 21 grandchildren. Pastor Graham received the Lord as his personal savior February 14, 1968. Pastor Graham acknowledged his call to the “Preaching Ministry” in 1973. Pastor Graham is the visionary, founder and Pastor of the Holy Tabernacle Church, Inc. in New York City, which has gone from a small storefront church to a multimillion dollar structure. Pastor Carl J. Graham shepherds a growing and multi-cultural flock of members varying in age, race and socio-economic backgrounds. Holy Tabernacle Church of the Living God was birthed in January 6, 1974 by Pastor Carl Graham. The first church service was held in Pastor Graham’s apartment with three members, his wife, Missionary Peggy Graham, the late Mother Rosetta Monroe (mother of Minister Graham), and the late Sister Mae Kee (sister of Minister Graham). Pastor Graham’s leadership and stewardship and with the help and support of his wife, Missionary Graham, and the members of Holy Tabernacle Church, the building of the Lord’s house was on its way. On March 5, 1974 the church relocated from 151 West 157th Street, Pastor Graham’s apartment, to 2857 8th Avenue, New York City, New York. The membership increased, focused on the young adolescents in the community. As a result, many young people turned from a life of drugs, crime and sin because of his ability to preach and teach the “TRUE WORD of GOD” without fear or reservation. Because of Hard work, faith in God, support from hard working members, strong teaching, and firm leadership has brought Holy Tabernacle Church over rough hills to be relocated for the last time. The accomplishment of building a house for the Lord was completed on the first Sunday in August of 1979 to 407 East 114th Street, New York City. Pastor Carl J. Graham is the founder and overseer of the International Fellowship of the Interfaith Churches. He’s known throughout the church connection as the “Gospel Preacher”. His motto is “To Love God, To Love Thyself and To Love Thy Neighbor.” Pastor Carl J. Graham was elevated to the office of Bishop on October 25, 2003. Bishop Carl Graham is also the Founder and Organizer of the Holy Tabernacle Community Development programs (HTCD), which has been in progress since September 2001.
